Android flagships are getting more expensive! Prices of Qualcomm Snapdragon chips from past generations are revealed, having nearly quintupled in 10 years.

Recently, a blogger compiled the price information of Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 series processors since 2016, which has nearly quintupled in about 10 years.

Looking at the compiled information, the price of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 in 2016 was around 300 yuan, the Snapdragon 845 in 2017 was around 480 yuan, and the Snapdragon 855 in 2018 was around 550 yuan.

The prices for the following three years are as follows: the Snapdragon 865 in 2019 was around 600 yuan, the Snapdragon 888 in 2020 was around 1000 yuan, the Snapdragon 870 in 2021 was around 630 yuan, and the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 was around 1200 yuan.

Entering 2022, the price of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 was around 1160 yuan, and the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in 2023 was around 1400 yuan.

Of course, the above information is obtained from some supply chains and may deviate from the information obtained by Qualcomm or mobile phone manufacturers.

Regardless, the price of flagship phones has indeed been rising over the years. Although there are many factors that determine this, the increase in processor prices is certainly a driving force.

Some netizens humorously remarked that these Android mobile phone manufacturers should actually be working for Qualcomm, as they not only use their processors but also have to pay various patent fees to Qualcomm.
