The Maldives can now use WeChat Pay, with support for 8,000 merchants expected by the end of the year.

In the future, when people visit the Maldives, they can use WeChat Pay just as they would in China.

Just now, the Maldives Tourism Authority and WeChat Pay jointly signed a three-year cooperation memorandum in Shanghai.

The two parties will work together to promote the adoption of WeChat Pay by more merchants throughout the Maldives, in order to provide Chinese tourists with a more convenient payment experience.

Currently, locations that support WeChat Pay include: airport duty-free shops, the popular restaurant Sala Thai, Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru, Velaa Private Island, LV White Horse Maldives, etc.

WeChat Pay stated that, if progress goes smoothly, 8,000 merchants will support WeChat Pay by the end of the year.
