Recently, photos shared by a NIO car owner show that the new NIO vehicles no longer have the “JAC Motors” badge and now display the “NIO” emblem.
This change signifies that NIO has obtained its own manufacturing qualifications and completed the production line transition, now delivering products under the NIO brand rather than utilizing JAC Motors’ production qualifications.
According to media reports, a representative from JAC Motors mentioned that JAC and NIO will continue to collaborate, but the cooperation will no longer involve manufacturing. Instead, they may collaborate in other areas, such as battery swapping technology.
It is noted that on December 4th last year, NIO first applied to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) under the “NIO” brand name for new vehicle certification, indicating that NIO has gained independent production qualifications.
At that time, in the MIIT’s new vehicle certification catalog, the tail label of the NIO ES7 only displayed “NIO,” instead of the previous “JAC-NIO.”
NIO also announced in May last year that the company invested 3.16 billion RMB to acquire the first and second advanced manufacturing bases from JAC Motors.
After taking over the manufacturing plants from JAC, NIO officially ended its seven-year history of contract manufacturing.
NIO Chairman William Li previously revealed that if NIO vehicles are entirely self-manufactured, manufacturing costs will continue to decrease by 10%.
